Day 61: i don’t believe that we should always be comparing ourselves to others – i’ve said it before in relation to those who we feel are more fortunate than us but i also include those who are less fortunate. either way, we are all supposed to lead different lives and no-one should feel guilty about being privileged or inferior for being underprivileged. but sometimes comparison does have a role to play as a reminder to appreciate and value what you have. if you’re ever feeling a bit gloomy about your life, this should be a gentle pick-me-up.

Day 60(2): this is one of the most valuable things i have learnt over the last year or so. you may have every right to express your disappointment/anger/fury or voice your opinion on something, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you SHOULD. always consider whether there is something to be gained from speaking. the main person who will be frustrated, hurt or upset by speaking the wrong words or at the wrong moment is you. i can’t count the times i have had an angry outburst and regretted it later, whether or not i was within my rights to do so. a moment’s reflection could have endless value for you.

Day 58(5): just something to think about.

every now and then the world gives us a gentle (or not so gentle) reminder of our own mortality. i got one this morning when the car turning right immediately in front of me got smashed into by an impatient driver accelerating to get through an orange light....
